ARTIST BIO: LoElle Brush/Jackson is a Grade 3 student at Frederick Douglass ES.
ART PROJECT: “Under the guidance of Art Teacher Katherine Smith, students investigated the idea of kindness and love as a result of tolerance of others. When completing the American Love Project, a national project and display, students learned about love for humankind and looked at ways to illustrate words within their artwork. Using quotes about love from Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mahatma Ghandi, students illustrated one of the quotes with which they resonated. Kindness Gardens were painted by Kindergarten and First Grade students to remind them that kindness grows through time, just like a garden which flourishes when it receives the proper care.”
