“In my piece, “Cubicles,” I wanted to represent the importance of self-expression and having a voice in society, whether in a school environment, at home, or in the work place. I focused on an office space, to give a mundane representation of being unseen or fitting into the norm of societal expectations; and I chose a child as the subject. The child looks to the viewer as if calling for help or for being seen/heard. The child also contrasts with the more formal/mature office space.”
