“My piece is about Shadow of the Innocence. Sexual assault continues to traumatize a lot of people around the world. No matter what gender or age, people can’t seem to escape the pattern of harassment. Sexual harassment is something people cannot necessarily help prevent. It’s hard to realize that you can barely go anywhere alone. I wanted to make the figure in my drawing to look creepy in a way that still maintains a child friendly center. I wanted the shadowy figure to feel standoffish. I wanted the background to feel like a memory. The aura around the shadow figure is supposed to feel like a lost memory that one wants to keep away.”
