“The topic of women’s right to choose is right now booming. As a woman, this topic is very important to me. I want my voice to be heard through my art. 1 out of every 6 women have been the victim of completed or attempted sexual assault. My piece features a woman sitting in a pose I chose specifically because I felt it was a powerful feminine pose. I made her stomach glow to represent my topic choice. I wanted that to be the main focus of the piece. The symbolism behind her having no mouth is the oppression women face not just in our country but all over the world.”
