“Whether we face meeting new people–especially those different from ourselves–with dread and fear or with eager anticipation of the gifts they bring will determine the future of our world. Here, Eastern-style paper–an ode to Nature made more manifest with traditional suminagashi–“meets” paper made Western-style in a visual metaphor. Finding no published haiku addressed the issue, I composed my own.”
ARTIST BIO: Award-winning professional calligrapher, paper marbler, book artist, and nature photographer, Ann Woods has taught as an Ohio Arts Council and Greater Columbus Arts Council Artist-in-Schools (36 years), through community arts programs, at CCAD, and, since 1997, at her own studio in Columbus.
