“In the beginning of my healing, I’d harbor hatred towards my perpetrators, represented here by the swan. I’d have dreams of revenge. Discussing this as a woman feels taboo because it subverts the soft and understanding stereotype. I depict this retribution act to make survivors feel less alone in even the “shameful” parts of recovery.”
ARTIST BIO Bri Wallace (she/her) is a Northern Kentucky based oil painter known for her work surrounding themes of femininity, relationships, bodily autonomy and image, and trauma. She will graduate from NKU in 2026 with a BFA degree emphasizing in painting. She is a recipient of her university’s Art & Design Scholarship Award, as well as the School of the Arts Schiff Scholarship Award. Currently, Bri is creating work intended for her upcoming Senior BFA Exhibition.
