“The intent of my artwork is to bring awareness to the native Americans who go missing every day; Emily Pike, an Apache native American, was a recent one. This subject is important because the government is trying to silence the indigenous people about these missing women. This subject is close to my heart as I am friends with and know many wonderful indigenous people in my community.”
ARTIST BIO: Joanie Nichols, a V+V artist, likes to draw animals and figures. She comes from a family of artists and singers. Her grandfather was an artist, and she has been making art since high school art classes and has been with V+V for a decade.
