“The work ‘American Apathy’ is about how the American government has lost its way from embracing empathy towards immigrants in this country to complete and utter apathy towards the immigrant population. The work focuses on the current administration’s hard stance on militarized policing and the cruel corruption of ICE/Immigration Enforcement.”
ARTIST BIO: Identical twin brothers Kelly and Kyle Phelps are Professors at private Catholic universities in Ohio. Kelly is Professor at Xavier University (Cincinnati) where he heads the ceramic and sculpture departments. Kyle is Professor at University Dayton (Dayton) where he is the head of sculpture and teaches ceramics. Much of the twins’ work is about the blue collar working-class, race relations and the everyday struggles of the common man and woman.
