“This artwork is inspired by religiously motivated discrimination against LGBTQ+ and non-Christians, considering their lifestyles “sinful”. It relates to how this not only caused people to feel ashamed of their identity but also goes against their freedom of religion by trying to force everyone to follow the same version of “sinful”. Chickens and Peafowl are both Landfowl, just like how we’re all human, but the chicken is shaming the Peacock for an arbitrary difference he has (that being his feathers). The Peacock is shown as being so ashamed of himself because of this that he is ripping out his feathers, reflecting how discrimination can lead to people denying their identity.”
ARTIST BIO: Simon/Liliana Pisegna is a 15 years old Grade 9 student atOak Hills high school. They have been an artist their whole life, also a mature multi-instrumentalist musician. They have 1 brother and two cats. In the future they plan on being either a practical effects artist or a paleontologist. Simon/Liliana is a smart person who enjoys hanging out with friends and working on hobbies.
