“This painting is my version of America Gothic, not the 1913 painting but the 1942 Gordon Parks version. As a kid/teenager it was the moment that I saw a photograph as art and was so taken by it that I decided in that moment that I would one day paint my own version. This is it.”
ARTIST BIO: Ricci Michaels is a visual artist, proud veteran and founder of the Urban Expression 101 Project, a nonprofit organization that promotes healing through the arts. She has exhibited her artwork here and abroad and has been painting for over fifty years.
