“This piece was inspired by my deep concern for the safety of school children. School should be a place where children can be protected from gun violence. This piece won the Brandon Click Memorial award at the Grayson Gallery and Art Center in Grayson, Ky. I sent the monetary award to Sandy Hook Promise.”
ARTIST BIO: Sandy Litteral is a poet and artist who lives in the foothills of East Kentucky. Having lived for a time in Greater Cincinnati, she eventually returned “home” to refine her poetry and visual art from her beloved hollers. Sandy draws, paints, and does decoupage, but assemblage is her favorite.
