“This collage is a whimsical take on our kinship with nature – in particular, trees and birds. The flower-headed figure has a bird in her heart, which is connected to the tree-man, who is speaking to two birds. The better we understand that we are not separate from nature, the more we will feel our responsibility to take care of it.”
ARTIST BIO: Sharmon Davidson uses colorful, dreamlike, nature-inspired imagery to explore the underlying interconnection of all things. Fascinated from an early age by how the universe works, she combines natural forms with visionary and mythological elements to highlight ecological concerns such as climate change. Her work consists of monoprints enhanced with drawing and painting, and collages made from recycled vintage ephemera. Educated at Northern Kentucky University and the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Sharmon has exhibited throughout the U.S.
