“Having lost a third of all birds since 1970, North American bird populations are declining faster than ever before, according to new studies. My collage focuses on the sad task of researchers as they tally increasing numbers of dead birds, lost due to pesticides, habitat loss, and other environmental factors.”
ARTIST BIO: Sharmon Davidson uses colorful, dreamlike, nature-inspired imagery to explore the underlying interconnection of all things. Fascinated from an early age by how the universe works, she combines natural forms with visionary and mythological elements to highlight ecological concerns such as climate change. Her work consists of monoprints enhanced with drawing and painting, and collages made from recycled vintage ephemera. Educated at Northern Kentucky University and the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Sharmon has exhibited throughout the U.S.
