“My art piece examines the tension between ego and perception. I believe that arrogance builds internal walls of assumption and self-importance that narrow our vision, causing us to dismiss essential human needs like connection and vulnerability—as inconvenient. Through this work, I explore the fragility beneath this posture, suggesting that such blindness is a defense mechanism against the fear of uncertainty. I am asking the viewer to confront the contradiction of how arrogance diminishes our ability to truly see. It invites a reconsideration of what it means to be emotionally aware and asks whether we are willing to recognize the shared humanity we often overlook.”
ARTIST BIO: Jim Conroy is a self taught artist, a Cincinnati Native and a retired firefighter/paramedic. He is currently a member and former board member of the Cincinnati Art Club. Through his art, Jim works to create a language of shared experience & understanding. He works mostly in oil paints and his style is realistic mixed with impressionist abstraction. Painting allows Jim to process and express his thoughts and feelings through what he creates.
