ARTIST BIO: Basel Alsheikh Ali is a Syrian artist and architect currently pursuing an MFA at the University of Cincinnati (DAAP). His practice explores the intersections of memory, displacement, and identity through abstract painting and mixed-media installation. Basel’s process engages with physical and symbolic traces of migration, rooted in his experience as a refugee and years working with NGOs. His work has been exhibited internationally, including in Syria, Greece, Austria, and the U.S.
