“On March 5, 2020, Governor Ivey of Alabama refused the request of the Alabama Innocence Project and the US Supreme Court to reopen the death penalty case of Nathaniel Woods. Nate was put to death that evening. I and 100s of thousands of others had been writing and calling to change the verdict. I began this painting the next day and included the youngest US death penalty victim George Stinney Jr. who was killed in 1944 at the age of 14.”
ARTIST BIO: Tina Tammaro is a figurative oil painter living in Cincinnati. She has shown her work extensively, both regionally and nationally, and has won numerous art grants. For over 35 years she has given lectures on art history and contemporary art and has been published in a number of international and national art periodicals. Tina teaches painting and drawing in her studio and always welcomes new students.
