ARTIST BIO: Jan Wiesner, a sculptor, grew up in Paradise, Texas. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, DAAP where she received her BFA. She served as an Art Teacher for the King & Low-Heywood Thomas School in Stanford, Connecticut as well as teaching at the Seven Hills School in Cincinnati. She completed her teaching career at The Summit Country Day School where she was the recipient of the school’s Schilderink Family Chair Award for Outstanding Teaching Award in 2013. In 2015 she received the State Elementary School Art Teacher of the Year Award from the Ohio Art Education Association. She was also an adjunct professor of Art Education at Xavier University. Jan shares a studio at the Pendleton Art Center with her husband Mark, who is also a sculptor. At retirement from teaching she and Mark walked the Camino de Santiago, a 500 miles journey across Northern Spain. They have five children and seventeen grandchildren.
