“Please refer to accompanying poem for description of a housefire that destroyed a NYC-made black leather backpack – melting it. I photographed the backpack in its new incarnation and then digitized the photograph. The backpack was unusable, unrecognizable, totally melted and smelled horrendous, but it was fascinating. Immortalized here.”

ARTIST BIO: Diane Germaine, choreographer/writer/photographer, was awarded fellowships and grants from NEA, City of Cincinnati, and Ohio Arts Council, and has premiered over 20 dance works in Cincinnati. She has participated in New York poetry readings and at various Cincinnati venues; her poetry and stories are published in various anthologies and publications, and her photography has been in exhibits at Kennedy Heights Arts Center, and been used in video projections for live productions.
