“My piece is about body image and media and it ties in with the first article of Human Rights, right to equality and a little bit of the second article being freedom of discrimination. My goals were to spread awareness about how people’s little comments can affect other people in a huge way. I learned that a lot of people are insecure and often compare themselves to other celebrities or just random people because of their looks.”
ARTIST BIO: Audrey Fletcher is a Grade 11 student at Butler Tech School of Art (SOA).
PROJECT: After learning about human rights in Mrs. Valerie Folz’ Government classes at Butler Tech School of the Arts, 45 high school students chose a human rights issue they wanted to research. Then in Mrs. Mary Catherine Ruby’s Visual Art + Design classes they visually communicated their voice through their art using symbolic imagery to represent the human rights issue they had selected.
