“I was inspired by many of the SOS Art Retrospective artworks because they showed a variety of different messages and topics. Each artwork and sculpture inspired me to create something that had a message true to me. That is why I chose the message “All bodies are beautiful, forget standards.” No matter how you look or what you look like, women are always shamed for their body sizes. Society has set up this boundary that you have to look a certain way to be deemed as beautiful or healthy. This is definitely not true. Health is not determined by size. I was inspired to create this piece because I know many people have been through body shaming for being either too big or too small. I wanted to create this piece to reach out to all the young girls and women out there to say you are beautiful just the way you are. Do not feel forced to change anything you don’t want to unless it’s necessary.”
