“Throughout history, women’s voices have been silenced in countless ways. Whether it’s being forbidden to speak in public or religious forums, being denied an education or the right to vote, or simply being told by those in power, “Quiet, piggy”, women have been denied the basic human right of self-expression.”
ARTIST BIO: Sharmon Davidson uses colorful, dreamlike, nature-inspired imagery to explore the underlying interconnection of all things. Fascinated from an early age by how the universe works, she combines natural forms with visionary and mythological elements to highlight ecological concerns such as climate change. Her work consists of monoprints enhanced with drawing and painting, and collages made from recycled vintage ephemera. Educated at Northern Kentucky University and the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Sharmon has exhibited throughout the U.S.
