linocut print; 8×10”
“This piece addresses the widespread yet often overlooked issue of food insecurity. Coming from a family that never has to worry about having enough to eat, I recognize how easy it is to forget this privilege. School food drives and service projects remind me how common food insecurity is, especially in Cincinnati, where about one in five people experience it. My artwork places two contrasting realities at the same table to show how close these struggles are to us. One side represents what many consider normal: a full, plentiful meal. The other reflects the reality for many families who face empty plates, skipped meals, or anxiety about where their next meal will come from. By highlighting these differences, I hope the piece raises awareness about the prevalence of food insecurity and encourages viewers to appreciate the stability they may take for granted.”
