“Do you love someone so much that you wish to marry them? Or even thinking about marrying someone someday? Same sex couples feel just like you. They love in the same way you do; it’s just not a man and a woman. They want to get married and live their lives together, possibly having children. In my piece, I chose to draw two women holding each other. Their expressions were sad because they weren’t allowed to get married like everyone else. The lilies surrounding them symbolize their love and compassion for one another. The background colors consist of blue and purple to portray the sadness that the couple is feeling. I decided to leave their shirts white to show how pure their love is. Even though the law is in place to advocate for same sex marriage, it could change at any time. These people just want to love each other in peace. They aren’t hurting anyone. Let them be.”
