“This piece reflects society’s treatment of women, including in adolescence. It’s a play on the phrase “Welcome to the real world,” which is an adult’s way of mocking adolescents for their unfortunate lived experiences. The quote “Stupid Skank and running her mouth” was a remark a male classmate made toward me in frustration.”
