prismacolor pencil, acrylic pen, on black construction paper; 9×10”
“Under the guidance of art teacher Steve Groh, students learned about the graffiti style artwork of Keith Haring, and created a drawing in a similar style using symbolic imagery to communicate a message based on a social issue.”
“Inspired by Keith Haring, my artwork celebrates women’s rights and empowerment. The piece features two central figures with wings, symbolizing freedom and the ability to rise above challenges. One figure has a single flower for her head, representing personal growth and flourishing potential. The other has multiple flowers emerging from her head, signifying the freedom of intellect and diverse ideas. The dark figures outlined in white stand out against a blue background, highlighting their strength and resilience. Through vibrant lines and meaningful symbols, I aim to honor the journey toward equality and inspire continued progress for women everywhere.“
