“Under the guidance of art teacher Steve Groh, students learned about the graffiti style artwork of Keith Haring, and created a drawing in a similar style using symbolic imagery to communicate a message based on a social issue.”
“Inspired by the art of Keith Haring, my artwork explores the theme of income inequality. The central figure wearing a crown symbolizes the top 1% who hold disproportionate economic power. Surrounding him are numerous smaller figures representing the people who have been left behind economically, highlighting the vast divide between the wealthy and the marginalized. Above, clouds serve as a critique of trickle-down economics, mocking the idea that wealth will naturally flow to everyone. Using strong lines and contrasting colors, the piece emphasizes the tension and injustice of economic disparity. My goal is to raise awareness and encourage dialogue about creating a more equitable society.”
