linoleum print
“My print addresses the prevalence of gun violence in America. This topic is important to me because gun violence in schools is becoming more and more common. To demonstrate this, I created a print that is in the form of an American flag. The words “STOP GUN VIOLENCE” form the stripes of the flag and the stars border two guns. One is a literal gun
that is used to cause harm to many whereas the other hand represents the motive and affects that having a gun can impose. The hand is the idea of gun violence though there is no access to a gun to carry out the motive, whereas the gun shows what can happen without limited access to weapons. Barbera Kruger and Corita Kent inspired me to use
bold words to inspire peace to end violence.”
