watercolor, color pencil, ink; 20×16″
“As a child, did you ever thought of doing extra-curricular activities? Or have you maybe done them before? Maybe you’re curious to know what it would be like if you did extra-curricular activities. For this Piece, I drew a girl who baked Strawberry cake and pie. The mediums I used are watercolor, colored pencil, and ink. The art techniques in this piece are stippling, fine line detail, outlining and hatching/cross-hatching located on the counter. Parents and experts alike have long believed that participation in extracurricular activities provides important enrichment for children. When kids are too overscheduled and stressed, they’re more prone to anxiety, irritability, tiredness and destructibility. While experts generally agree that extracurricular activities carry significant benefits for children, conflicting opinions exist as to whether engaging in many such activities simultaneously is helpful or harmful for children. Extra-curricular activities give children a chance to develop their skills, learn more about their interests and connect with others who may share the same passions and interests that they do.”
