“Bottled Water has become very incorporated into society in such a short amount of time and I consider that quite fascinating. So many people now always have one and never seem to think about the worldwide effect. As per a study, around 24 million oil barrels are required every year for formulating the raw plastic material for the production of bottled water. With every purchase of bottled water, it will enhance the greenhouse effect. While many people may rely on bottled water, we can’t rely on it anymore. The Earth and the Ocean will continue to suffer if we refuse to change.
What I drew was a very colorful plastic bottle water being filled with water, surrounded by plastic mounds and smoke billowing into the darkened sky. This was to better represent the waste and environmental hazard that is used to make bottled water and how the manufacturers cover up their crimes. The plastic bottled water is the only thing in color, referencing how companies only focus on their products and not on the waste produced. Hatching is making lines close together to have a shaded effect on your piece. The hatching on the bottled water helps make it stand out more compared to the rest of the piece. I also used line weight, which is to use different sized ink pens to give a sense of depth. While the colored pencils were used on the water, the graphite was used on the sky and background.”
