“Under the guidance of art teacher Jamie Schorsch I created a portfolio of prints to explore visually my personal struggles with depression and anxiety over the past year, also trying to learn more about what others go through. The overarching theme is a portrayal of the complexities within mental health, using colors, lighting, and composition to symbolize emotions associated with conditions like paranoia, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, and multi-personality disorders. I’m inspired by personal experiences, conversations with others, and a desire to shed light on mental health issues. My vision is to prompt viewers to reflect on the hidden nuances in mental health, emphasizing the dualities and internal battles individuals face. Appearances can be deceiving, and even aesthetically pleasing images may carry a deeper, darker meaning.”
