“My Social Justice piece is Women’s rights to their bodies. I’ve researched and have seen a little more into this issue in the real world and made that into an art piece. It was rallied on at a Food Convention in my area of town by a small group of people. Through my research I learned about Women’s rights to their Bodies. I’ve chosen this topic because most political figures are either pro-choice or pro-life, and there are even a few that are balanced. In my Social Justice piece, I’ve drawn a big person wearing glasses, along with a tie, a mouth with teeth, and tentacles being engulfed by water. The figure is holding two people: a woman, and a baby. The woman has an enraged look on her face because she’s lost something no one could take away from her, or her body. Now, the baby looks fearful because its fate is undecided in the hands of the government, hence why it has a tiny chain on its ankle. I’ve chosen this project because I wanted to see how far I could push myself into a sensitive topic, and how to spread more awareness about it.”
