“I chose book banning because I wanted to learn more about it and although I may not have much of an interest in books , I know that banning still has a negative impact on many different communities.
Book banning is used to suppress subject matters especially when a particular group doesn’t believe in them and wants to prevent others to learn about them. As of recent Texas has been facing this problem a lot with the government also taking a role in it as well. In my art piece the light bulb and head symbolize idea/enlightenment and how its chain, shaped like an X, are keeping it suppressed and away from us and with eyes showing anger and judgment towards it. Lastly, the pride flag is supposed to symbolize one of the communities that’s subject for these bannings.”
