“I came to SOA to expand my artistic knowledge, ability, and to begin my career. I made it my academic goal to get here. I did my best to increase my artistic skill. Human Trafficking is an awful crime, and it needs to be stopped. This is when someone will use force, coercion, or fraud to obtain some kind of labor. This can consist of forced labor and sex work. When researching Human Trafficking, I learned so many different things. For example, sex trafficking makes up most of the human trafficking. 99 billion of that money comes from sex trafficking. I created a piece on Human Trafficking, and in the piece a hand is rising from blue, abyssal waters with a newfound freedom symbolized from a broken chain and shackle. I used alcohol markers and colored pencils. Blue is the representative color for human trafficking. Orange and blue are complimentary colors, which enhances the piece. I feel that ignorance for human trafficking is what makes this so important to me. So many people do not understand the effects of trafficking. People are taken from their homes and
families to be trafficked and go through unimaginable things.”
