“My artwork addresses climate change, and how people would rather make money than work to protect our planet and posterity. Climate change affects everyone, everywhere, because it harms our entire planet. By depicting fire and hands exchanging money, I intended to show how valuing profit over the long-term health of the entire world can have a dangerous effect, including actual fires and heat. The flowers underneath portray everything we stand to lose along the way, including nature and life. “Invest in the future” written at the top plays on the idea of money and profit, illustrating how a wiser investment would be in the longevity of humanity and our planet. Fighting climate change isn’t just recycling or picking up litter but investing in large scale projects like switching to different sources of energy.”
