acrylic on canvas; 20×16”“Oftentimes, Queerness and especially Gender-Affirming Care such as Top Surgery are villainized and seen as mutilating the “children”. This piece specifically shows villainization and how much of a harmful effect it has on Queer people such as myself. The specific medical table framing of the background suggests how certain people view Queer bodies as strange, foreign things that must be dissected and figured out as if Queer people are nothing more than lab experiments or corpses. This idea often lends to the homophobia present in the idea that top surgery, and Gender-Affirming Care, is mutilating children despite how virtually every case of this care is done so by a consenting young adult or older. “
