watercolor, ink; 16×20”
“My piece represents a family comprised of two alien parents and two human children. It is still a family, even if made up of different kinds of people, and even if not blood related. The spaceship that they are standing in is to point that every home is different. Not every family lets their child know they are adopted, but I am glad I had been told about it myself. I would much rather know that my family loved me enough to take me in of their own choice than to simply take such a thing for granted. I hope that my piece would encourage people to embrace adoption, by accepting it more or even in a more personal manner as it is nothing to be ashamed of.”
