ARTIST BIO: Robert Nyaswenta Jr. is an artist, architect and designer currently based in Nairobi, Kenya. His work covers a multifaceted array of media, including drawing, painting, illustration, digital art, photography and film, as well as music. The themes he explores are: documentation of everyday life in Nairobi; reimagination of the African context; exploration of the crisis of 21st Century contemporary life; investigation of how technology is affecting and impacting us. Inspired by architecture, African craft traditions, and everyday life, his practice moves fluidly between sketch and structure, drawing being both meditation and exploration.
Through his art Robert hopes to capture the true essence of the Nairobi atmosphere, explore the African arts while at the same time raise consciousness and improve the experiences of his viewers.
