“Tribute to the hardworking men and women who wake before dawn to chase their daily bread – each stroke of the rugged city and its chaotic energy of the Boda Bodas identity and expression on Nairobi, Kenya streets.”
ARTIST BIO: Dennis Ndegwa (Bull) is a visual artist based in Nairobi, Kenya. His practice is rooted in capturing the rhythms, resilience and resourcefulness of everyday Kenyan life. His art echoes both the vibrancy and grit of his surroundings. For instance he draws inspiration from bodabodas, using them as symbolic vessels for Kenya’s economic shifts, urban motion and the relentless grit of its people as they hustle for their daily bread or ‘kutafuta unga’ as it is called in the streets. He explores themes of survival, innovation and the hustle that defines Kenya’s social and cultural fabric. Bull’s work not only celebrates the hardworking spirit of those around him but also highlights sustainability through use of repurposed materials.
