Obama Wilson, a professional artist based in Nairobi, Kenya, has earned a Bachelor of Education (English and Literature) at Kenyatta University. Art is, however, his passion. Obama’s style is hyperrealism, using oil as his major medium. He paints portraits of humans specifically the Indigenous people all over Africa, finding in their faces hidden stories, hidden emotions, broken Spirits, dead souls. He also resonates with Indigenous people who have been chased away from their own ancestral lands and uses his art to stress the importance of preserving culture.
