ARTIST BIO: Born and raised in Nairobi, Wesley Otieno ‘Wex’ is a self-taught mixed media artist based in Nairobi. He started his art career in 2016 after discovering an art program in Art 360 Kibera, where he was mentored and nurtured by Faith Atieno. In 2024, he exhibited in Shifting Tides II organized by Seven Artists at Kobo Trust Studio, in Affordable Art organized by the National Museum of Kenya, and in World Through My Eyes online exhibition organized by Nakivale Young Talents Community in Uganda. In 2025, he exhibited in People and Places organized by Ardhi Gallery, and in Art Salon organized by Seven Artists in Kobo Trust Studio. In his work, Wex explores themes of social anxiety, mental health, love, unity, social justice, and daily life challenges. He continues to use the power of visual art to both challenge and connect with audiences. His artworks are collected both locally and globally. Wex is currently working at FutureWithin Community Based Organization, located in Kibera near the main SHOFCO School for Girls.
