“The fact that we enjoy peace, freedom and justice does not mean the otherwise is not happing on our watch. Just seeing no evil, hearing no evil and speaking no evil- it can be the first step to help us judge ourselves on a scale that is fair.”
ARTIST BIO: Alubokho Shem is a visual artist currently honing his craft at Kenyatta University. He commands both two and three-dimensional media, creating a powerful dialogue between expressive surface and demanding form. In his paintings, he uses both oil paints and acrylics, exploring themes of human experience, identity, and the intricate relationship between people and their natural world. In his sculptures, he transforms industrial, rigid materials into objects of profound delicacy, focusing almost exclusively on the motif of the butterfly. His sculptures are investigations into metamorphosis, fragility, and resilience.
