“’The Outsider’ represents how we, as humans, depending on time and circumstance, are often outsiders… not belonging in our current place. It can happen to any of us at any time. Right now, many of us feel like this in the United States whether due to our political views, our immigrant status, isolation, poverty… and the list goes on.
ARTIST BIO: Monica Namyar is an elementary art teacher. She studied at Xavier University (art/ceramics) and at the Australian National University, Canberra School of Art (ceramics). She also has a master’s degree in art education from University of Cincinnati. Monica is also a landscape painter. In 2023, she was a finalist in the Glover Art Prize, Australia’s most prestigious landscape painting award for Sanctuary, Maria Island (Tasmania). She is the owner of The Pottery of Park Hills.
