“Environmental injustice and the oil industry are interconnected, with the oil industry’s practices disproportionately harming marginalized communities and the environment. The industry is linked to severe health problems due to toxic pollution from extraction, processing, and transport, with Black, Brown, Indigenous, and poor communities often bearing the heaviest burden.”
