ceramic stoneware, foam clay, embroidery floss, safety pins; 42x10x6“
“My piece is a surrealist visualization of many of the women’s issues prominent in our society today. Women’s constitutional rights and societal standpoint are threatened in our current government. The concept of women having to beg for mercy when it comes to real healthcare and bodily autonomy is far too common of a problem over a simple different set of organs.”
ARTIST BIO: ARTIST BIO: Alexis Paige Armes (b. 2003) is an emerging artist based in Northern Kentucky. She is a recent BFA graduate with an emphasis in spatial arts from Northern Kentucky University. Within her work, she uses ceramic image transfers combined with unique textile materials to explore the real-life consequences of the virality of hyper-sexual personas in the media and how it connects to the history of an everyday woman’s place in society. Her work was exhibited several times within NKU, also around Cincinnati, with SummerFair.
