“‘Breadwinner’ discusses the social inequality within the workforce between men and women. There are countless examples of women and men being in the same official job position, however there is often still a large pay-gap between the two genders, with women in the losing hand. Women in sex work are also consistently paid very little while having to work in sometimes violent and taxing environments.”
ARTIST BIO: Alexis Paige Armes (b. 2003) is an emerging artist based in Northern Kentucky. She is a recent BFA graduate with an emphasis in spatial arts from Northern Kentucky University. Within her work, she uses ceramic image transfers combined with unique textile materials to explore the real-life consequences of the virality of hyper-sexual personas in the media and how it connects to the history of an everyday woman’s place in society. Her work was exhibited several times within NKU, also around Cincinnati, with SummerFair.
