“This piece references three detrimental intrusions into the lives of Native Americans. Liquor was used by colonists to incapacitate and swindle natives who were not used to the effects. Colonists brought pathogens that wreaked havoc on native populations with no pre-existing immunity. Christianity was used as a framework for defining natives as heathens and, therefore, less than human.”
ARTIST BIO: As an award-winning creative director, Jason Langdon delivers big ideas, strategic design and compelling advertising for an impressive client roster. This background in the commercial world informs his art, which counters Swiss design sensibilities against Deconstructivist techniques to craft thoughtful, expressive pieces. A lover of artifacts, Jason mostly utilizes found objects in his work, making each piece truly one of a kind. In addition to majoring in graphic design at the University of Cincinnati, he has studied printing, collage, encaustics, charcoal, glass fusing, pottery, and textile dyeing.
