“’Psyche Waking’ is about the development of the female, the “feminine principle”. MAGA, our current government, has made it clear that women, women’s choices, women’s independence and women’s power are not only threatening but are specifically targeted. My piece is part of a series exploring Greek mythology.”

ARTIST BIO: Mary Anne Donovan was born in San Rafael, CA and grew up in Cincinnati. She received her B.F.A. in Art Education, DAAP, (1972-76) U.C. The following year she moved to Montana, living in Missoula for four years and received her M.F.A. (1977-79) at the University of Montana. In 1980 she returned to Cincinnati to begin working in both administration and part-time teaching at The Art Academy of Cincinnati and painted. After eight years at The Art Academy, she established MadHouse Ltd., a sculptural birdhouse company and painted. From 1991-1993, she taught at Northern Kentucky University and painted and exhibited. From 1997 to 2019, she worked as an Art Specialist – Lead Teacher in Cincinnati Public Schools. And painted.
