“A girl rescues a bird who has become entangled in some type of mesh, symbolizing the potential of humans to take action to defend wild creatures. The thorns around her neck indicate she has done this at some cost to herself. I believe we have an obligation to preserve wild creatures, with whom we are intricately interconnected.”

ARTIST BIO: Sharmon Davidson is a mixed media artist creating colorful, dreamlike, nature-inspired imagery that explores the underlying interconnection of all things. Her work consists of monoprints enhanced with drawing and painting, and collages made from recycled vintage ephemera. Educated at Northern Kentucky University and the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Sharmon has exhibited throughout the US. Her work has been featured in numerous publications, and on prominent art websites such as ArtsyShark, Fusion Arts, and Gallery 25N.
