“As a queer person, the political climate in America has become increasingly scary and enraging. This piece was fueled by those feelings, as well as by feelings of defiance. No matter how we are viewed, us queer people are not going anywhere.”
ARTIST BIO: Jesse Cushing is an interdisciplinary artist born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She has loved art from a young age and has picked up skills in many different mediums over the years. As a student at UC/DAAP, she discovered a passion for sculpture and gallery spaces that pulled her and her artwork in a new direction. Jesse has shown work in galleries such as Camp Washington’s CampSITE.
