“This mini-altar is part of an ongoing series that places emphasis on the ignored, rejected, and hated: in this case, the hated & legislated pussy. This piece is ongoing in that candles are often burnt and replaced when not on display. The artist hopes it encourages viewers to pay a little respect to our shared origin, and that it reminds us to protect it from attacks.”

ARTIST BIO: Zoe Yates is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily with ceramic sculpture and multidisciplinary painting techniques. Her work filters experience, identity and memory through the lens of bright color and bold textures. Zoe is from Appalachia but presently resides in Cincinnati, where she recently graduated with her MFA.
